Start for Life and Family Hubs

The Family Hubs and Start for Life programme is enabling us to further enhance the excellent Family Centre offer we have on the Isle of Wight. Family Hubs is a ‘one stop shop’ for families, joining up and enhancing the services delivered through the Island's Family Hub network. This offer enables all expectant parents, carers, and families to access the support they need, when they need it.  

The programme supports families from the point at which they are expecting a baby until their child(ren) turns 19, or 25 years for those living with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).  

As a local authority, the Island has been awarded ‘Trailblazer’ status as one of 14 local authorities who are leading the way with the development of their Family Hub offer.  

 The offer:  

• provides support to parents and carers so they can nurture their babies and children, improving health and education outcomes for all
  

• contribute to a reduction in inequalities in health and education outcomes for babies, children, and families across England by ensuring that support provided is communicated to all parents and carers
  

• build the evidence base for what works when it comes to improving health and education outcomes for babies, children, and families in different delivery contexts.
