Local Offer

How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?

We have experienced, highly qualified staff who have been trained in children's development. They are able to identify those children needing additional help. If you think your child may have special educational needs we advise you to speak to a staff member asap.

How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?

The setting will assess and deliver a tailored experience for your child. If this does not meet the child's needs, then we will engage with appropriate outside professionals that will best support your child.

How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?

This will be delivered depending on your child's needs after they have been assessed and we have got to know them.

How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?

The setting uses Tapestry online learning journal system. This enables us and you to digitally share what your child is doing and where they need to go next.

What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?

Knowledgeable and trained staff will support your child's overall well-being in the setting. We will offer an additional adult on the sessions your child attends if funding is agreed. Your child will be supported in the setting alongside their peers, and ensuring their well-being.

What specialist services and expertise are avaliable at or accessed by the setting/school/college?

Staff have undertaken training in many aspects of children's development such as;

speech and language,

Communications Champions,

Family Hub champions

Also have access to and make referrals to many outside services provided by the local authority.

What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had?

Staff have had lots of experience over the years with a wide range of children with additional and varied needs. Staff receive a lot of on the job training.

Our SENCO regular attends local authority training in various aspect of SEND.

Training from outside professionals such as physiotherapists, deaf awareness, sign language. Staff attend training as required to meet each child's individual needs.

How will my child / young person be included in activities, including trips run by your setting?

Every effort will be made to include your child in any outings or trips that may occur during your little ones time with us. We will make arrangements for any trips alongside you.

How accessible is your education setting? (Indoors and outdoors)

We are on one level floor, open plan with ramps and no steps.

How will the setting or school prepare and support my child to join the setting, school or the next stage of education and life?

We offer as many settling in sessions as you and your little one require. We will allocate a key person who will work alongside you both to settle in to the setting.

Once the time comes to move on to the next setting, e.g. reception class, the key person will work alongside them to help your child to settle for as long as it takes.

How are the education setting resources allocated and matched to children and young people's Special Educational Needs and disabilities?

Resources are provided in the setting for your child and as their needs are identified. We will always try to access any additional funding available. This is used to purchase equipment and resources that your little one may need and these will be allocated to them to use.
