Local Offer

How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?

We have a SENCo. Information about children is given to her via staff observations, or parents can contact her to discuss any concerns.

How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?

An individual development plan would be implemented to suit the needs of the child. This is planned and differentiated according to the child’s specific needs. Depending on the child’s needs, some 1 to 1 time is allocated to focus on these areas. Additional resources or support is then provided if necessary.

All staff are involved so that support is consistent throughout the setting, unless the child requires 1 to 1 support the whole time they attend. If this is the case they will be designated one main person to work with them where appropriate for their needs, however still integrating with the other staff. Targets are made known to all staff in staff meetings.

The length of time of intervention will vary according to the need of the child. This will be regularly reviewed and monitored by all staff involved to determine the effectiveness of the provision. We will also evaluate whether the intervention is still necessary or if the child is now reaching their expected levels of development.

IDP’s are evaluated half termly or earlier if aims have been met, whichever comes first.

How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?

The activities set up during the day are tailored to the children's needs. The SENCo will hold small group activities for children that need extra support.

How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?

We use Tapestry to record your child's learning journey and hold termly appointments with parents to inform them about their child's progress. However, a parent can request feedback at any time.

What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?

We tailor our support to the child's needs where possible.

What specialist services and expertise are avaliable at or accessed by the setting/school/college?

• All staff are kept up to date with training.

• Early Years SEN Support Team.

• Speech and Language Therapy Services, Physiotherapy once child has been referred.

What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had?

Experience from working with SEN children at the setting. Training courses offered by the Local Authority.

How will my child / young person be included in activities, including trips run by your setting?

All children are included in activities where possible.

How accessible is your education setting? (Indoors and outdoors)

We have a ramp to the main entrance. There is a toilet suitable for wheel chair users.

How will the setting or school prepare and support my child to join the setting, school or the next stage of education and life?

We will look at their learning and interests and introduce them to more opportunities based on their interests.

How are the education setting resources allocated and matched to children and young people's Special Educational Needs and disabilities?

The SENCo will allocate the available resources as required.
